CONTEST RULES

Flash Fiction: a complete story with a defined beginning, middle and end not to exceed 650 words, excluding the title using the artwork above as your prompt.

Entries must be sent with a separate cover sheet. Put your name, address, email and phone numbers (preferably cell) on your cover sheet. Entries must be typed in 12 point Times Roman or Arial and submitted as a Word Document. You are limited to three (3) entries. Each entry must be submitted separately via email.s

All submissions must be unpublished. Submissions cannot have been entered in any other contest or publication.

The winners will be notified prior to the spring issue of Pulse (April). The first place winner will be published in the April 2011 issue of Pulse the Magazine. All winners will be published on the Pulse the Magazine website.

All entries will be judged by the writers of Writers One Flight Up.

First Place Prize: A Day in Mount Dora starting with a night at the Magnolia Inn B&B, a free Segway tour of Mount Dora and for your Hostess Basket filled with goodies provided by local merchants.

Second Place Prize: $100 cash from Pulse the Magazine.

Third Place Prize: $50 cash from Writers One Flight Up.

Writers One Flight Up presents Flights of Fantasy at Mount Dora Brewing

Flights of Fantasy...An evening of original prose and poetry presented by local writers and poets. March, 15^{th, 2012} – Thursday – 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Held at Mount Dora Brewing and the Rocking Rabbit Brewery – 405 South Highland Street, Mount Dora, FL 32757.

Presented and hosted by Writers One Flight Up, an eclectic and creative writing group that meets weekly at One Flight Up Café and Wine Bar, Mount Dora, Florida.

Back by demand, Flights of Fantasy is a sell out evening marked with hooting, hollering, audience voting for winners and cash prizes creating a huge success.

Co-sponsored by Pulse, the Magazine; Partners in Crime Publishers; and Mount Dora Brewing and the Rocking Rabbit Brewery.

Participation

The evening is a Flight of Fantasy.

You’re encouraged to capture the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day. We want light hearted, up-beat, comical, whimsical and fantastical pieces. Prose and poetry that will make us laugh. It’s an “All Things Irish” evening of leprechauns, limericks, snakes and four-leaf clovers.

To ensure a fast pace, we will select only 10 readers. Readers are limited to approximately 8 minutes for their original poetry and/or prose. To be eligible for participation, send an electronic copy of what you are reading to the email address below. The deadline for entries: midnight, Sunday, March 3rd. Selections will be made by Writers One Flight Up and presenters will be notified by Friday, March 9th.

Tickets

Selected presenters (10 folks) will be given free tickets. Fifty (50) seats are all that's left for those who want to enjoy and play for the evening.

Seats are $5, cash at the door, or in advance at Mount Dora Brewing 405 South Highland Street, Mount Dora 32757. Limited seating! We strongly recommend that you get your tickets in advance. Send an email to to reserve your tickets. Make sure you give your name, cell phone number and number of tickets needed.

Free bar snacks and light bites. Wine, fabulous micro-brewed Rocking Rabbit organic beers and non-alcoholic drinks are available on a cash basis.

Prizes

Cash prize awards for the top readers. The Pulse Magazine Award, Partners in Crime Publishers Award, and Mount Dora Brewing Awards will all be handed out at the end of the evening.

Audience vote determines award winners. Laugh, clap, be happy and enjoy an evening of fun, frolic and fantasy – even if you’re not Irish!
